Martine, what do you do at Satelligence?
I am the COO and with that responsible for the operational side of the organisation. I have a commercial background as well and that can also help with the alignment of the market to what we develop and deliver. We need a close alignment.
What led you to this career?Â
My background is Business Economics. I have held many commercial and operational roles also working as a management consultant. I am used to work with tech and tech related companies mostly in international settings.
Can you tell us a bit more about your passion for sustainability?Â
I have 2 teenagers growing up and I would like for them to live on a sustainable planet. My husband works for a vegan food company. You can imagine we talk a lot about the environment at the dinner table. Once you know what is going on you can not look away anymore. It is a lot about education.
What’s one thing you learned recently?
That palm oil is not a wrong product. It is about helping the farmers do it in a sustainable way.
What do you look forward to?
Growing the business of Satelligence with a great bunch of people!
What are some highlights of the company so far?
It was great to kick of with some customer events where I learned that Satelligence is well known and respected for what we do. You hear very often that we really listen and know the business.
What challenges have you come across thus far?
I am waiting for my laptop 🙂
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I have two teenage girls. I love to play tennis and spend time outdoors.
A bit more about you
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Maybe the most fun compliment that I recently got was from my daughters after serious deliberation, saying I am a cool mom (as far as cool moms go).. Of course this could be different next year!
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I am both until I crash and need to reload. Usually on Sundays.
How do you like to start your day?
With 2 coffees.
How do you like to end your day?
Seeing the sun go down.
Thanks Martine! We are so happy to have you on board
Martine Melis
Martine studied Business Economics at the University of Maastricht. Since then she has alternately worked in line functions and consultancy for different international tech companies in commercial and operational capacities. Martine joined Satelligence in October 2022 in the role of Chief Operational Officer with the aim to support Satelligence’s growth helping companies to reach their climate objectives leading to a net zero future. Satelligence does this through intelligent supply chain monitoring, covering carbon stock, deforestation, agricultural commodities and more. Free time involves raising and having fun with 2 teen daughters, playing tennis or since recent padel and spending time outdoors preferably on the water or snow when skiing.
